2K Games has appointed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the development team at their internal studio, which is currently developing the upcoming third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Leadership Change Follows Mixed Reception
The new appointee steps into the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of previous head Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's disappointing unveiling last fall.
Recently, 2K president a key figure notified team members about this organizational change through an official communication, which stressed that playtesting had shown the requirement for a distinct vision.
The president noted that the developers is now overhauling Project Ethos with a refreshed vision, aiming to better meet community desires.
Trend of Key Hires
This announcement follows a similar move taken by the publisher in the summer, when they brought on an industry veteran from the Diablo team to contribute to the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

Hello Everyone—
I know you all just wrapped up your town hall - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the recent updates. Last time I shared you all a note, I stated the following: “I am confident in this team. You all are some of the most driven and innovative creators we have had the pleasure to partner with - and we’re eager for that collaboration to endure.”
Given your hard work and versatility, particularly over the last year, you repeatedly show that.
The community feedback from last autumn’s Project ETHOS testing phase was revealing. It validated the appeal of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had refinements needed. It highlighted the need for a more distinct identity.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve progressed. You embraced the criticism to heart and overhauled the title with a refreshed vision - one that’s poised to fulfill its potential to our audience.
The trust in this project strengthens every day. To boost the incredible progress you’ve made, I’m excited to introduce the new hire as the latest Director of the team. Following some time of discussions, Ben comes aboard us on Monday, October 20.
His guidance and background in the competitive gaming genre is extensive, having devoted the recent years producing and leading some of the most well-known titles in the industry, including the acclaimed shooter, and more recently, the battle royale hit.
Please join me in receiving Ben in the coming days. We are all eager to keep observing the evolution of the game in the weeks to ahead.
David
Background of the Incoming Leader
Brinkman currently holds the position of senior developer and production lead at Respawn Entertainment for Apex Legends. Brinkman earlier was employed at major gaming companies in various production roles on the Call of Duty series, and, prior to that, had stints at other industry leaders.
Game Details and Concept
The upcoming game was announced in last year in conjunction with a community playtest. At the time, the developers presented the game as a "no-cost, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an innovative evolution on the genre."
"Create your ideal gameplay session—or face defeat—in this engaging over-the-shoulder adventure! Customize your character in real-time to suit your personal playstyle," the description states. "Face the competition with fresh skills, stakes, and tests that evolve every match. Do you safely extract with your valuable rewards? Or go big, risk it all, and hope your squad can secure victory? The choice is in your hands."
The game does not have an official launch window or consoles, but players can expect more updates as development advances.
